Why your role as a CEO shouldn’t be “customer first”

As a CEO it’s second nature to say that you need to put your customers first. I mean, isn’t that why we built our business, to help customers? That was my mindset at first, too. It wasn’t until a celebration trip with my executive team to Napa that one of them mentioned I‘d lost my way.

She was right.

While I was focused on the customer providing for my company‘s bottom line, my employees were suffering.

Your role as a CEO is to take care of your people first. Let them take care of your customers. That‘s why you hired great people.
