One way to prevent discrepancies is during the interview process for new hires. My recommendation is to have a male and female sit in on the interview to see how the interviewee acts towards them. Are they focusing on one over the other? Do they seem to respect both parties? This helps you read into communication signs that speak louder than words. You’ll get an early peek into if the interviewee will fit into your culture.
