Companies with great perks can still have a toxic culture

Companies that focus on perks for their employees fall short of fulling their needs. Perks are often associated with company culture, but that isn’t the case. Having perks is great, but it’s a surface-level solution to a deeper need your employees have.

When fulfilling your employee’s needs look at Maslow’s Hierarchy for Entrepreneurs. There are five levels to the hierarchy. The bottom two are fulfilled with their paycheck. They are considered their basic needs for survival.

The top three are what you as a leader need to provide, belonging, affirmation, and meaning (BAM). Creating BAM goes beyond a foosball table and free snacks.
